by If you like the traditional folk art of Rosemaling, then you will enjoy the latest book out on this subject, A Worldwide Art - Rosemaling by Yoshie Kojima. The colors are traditional and so are the designs. I definite must for your Rosemaling book collection.
All the designs are painted on functional items - and I always like a project that is useful as well as beautiful. For instance, you will get to paint on the following surfaces: wooden oval bucket w/lid, jewelry box, a tine, a sign, several stools, a tote bag, a plaque, a sewing box, a wooden plate and an oval wooden box w/lid. Yoshie provides a general supply list, general instructions, painting terms and techniques. She has very nice line drawings and her instructions for each pattern are very detailed and easy to understand. Yoshie also has wonderful color step-by-step photos of the small blue flower, a Hallingdal flower, a bonnet lily, a small yellow lily, a daisy, a yellow and red round flower, a leaf, a scroll, a yellow flower and a rose. I really liked that she included what size brush she was using to paint all the items in the step-by-step photos. I really liked this book and I know you Rosemalers out there will too.
