As I continue with my fascination of collage, mixed media, and altered art - I'm always looking for books that inspire me. Collage Lost and Found by Giuseppina Cirincione is a book that satisfies. Inside are fun ephemera projects with excellent step-by-step photos, and highly-helpful tips. Josie covers everything from how to use old photos and ephemera, where to find more, supplies to use, essential tools that you will need, how to get started, incorporating rubber stamps (and embossing powders, sheet metals), how to adhere with epoxy, beeswax, and gel medium and WAY, WAY more. This book is filled with good stuff from cover to cover. Josie also includes some ephemera on the back pages that you can use in your own creations. The book is broken down into these sections: Some of my favorite project in this book are the collage business cards. I can't think of a better way to promote yourself than with a business card that is a small work of art all on it's own! I also loved the projects that include rubber stamp images - I admit I'm still learning about incorporating rubber stamps into my creations. I also fell in love with her greeting cards. They certainly don't look like something you bought off the rack at your local store. These are unique and one-of-a-kind cards that only the most special people in your life deserve to receive! All in all I learned plenty of good stuff from this book. I love how she goes into details about the tools and supplies and why you need them. This book is also a visual feast! This one's a keeper. |
