 I've
been having such a great time carving my own stamps. Now, I was
wondering what else I could do with them besides stamp on cards. Voila -
here is Gloria Page's new book Art Stamping Workshop to answer my
question. I purchased this book at Amazon.com and I love every page
because it's stuffed full of really fun projects!
The picture of the back cover show just a few projects that you can do with your hand-carved stamps - stamp on gourds, luminary bags, fabric, and art journals. Gloria takes you step-by-step through your new journey as a stamp carver. She gently holds your hand through photo and detailed instructions all about the materials you will need and use, and how to get inspiration for your designs. After you feel confident about carving and stamping, now it's time to expand your creativity and make things you may not have thought of. The book's projects include: Paper projects - framed artwork, luminary, magnetic bookmark card, artist's journal, scrapbook photo corners. Fabric stamping - prayer flags, bamboo banner, botanical bag, second life silk blouse, candle tower, masu box, quick change art quilt tote. Alternative surfaces - leather bracelet, river rock, ceramic tile, southwest by far east frame, natural gourd bowl, ojo de dios ornament, star ornament, and polymer clay "chop" stamps. Gloria also teaches us that we can make stamps out of other things too! Why not make a stamp out of a gourd, polymer clay, wine cork, and other things. The projects and techniques that I really love are the portrait carving, multi-block print, and stamping on an old shirt to make it new again (you know we love make-overs here at Decor Delights). All you need now are the supplies and you'll be on your way to a whole new world of art! This is great for artists of all ages.
