Tole is the old, European folk art of painting on tin. Anyone in those days
who couldn't afford fancy dishes or china would decoratively paint their
tin ware. Now tole is more generalized to encompass most of the craft
painting done today - also the term tole is not really used today as much
as decorative painting.
