Painting Level: Beginner

 


Supplies Needed

Delta Ceramcoat:

Crocus
Pale Yellow
Raw Sienna
Wineberry
Wisteria
White
Chrome Green Lt

Delta Water Based Sealer

Delta Satin Varnish

Delta Quick 'n Tacky Glue

 


Instructions

Prep:

Sand
Seal and sand again
Trace on pattern.

 


Painting:

Wisteria

Base the two back petals of pansies.

Crocus

Base the two middle petals and the one front petal of pansies.

Pale Yellow

Sideload/float, highlight the tops of the two middle petals, and the bottom of the front petal.

Raw Sienna

Stipple (indicated by dots on pattern) along the separations of the middle and front petals.

Wineberry

Stipple with a small amount of wineberry, please be sure to go lightly and not as wide as the raw sienna.

Sideload/float - Shade the two back petals (indicated by zig-zag lines on pattern).

Line - the veins in the middle and front petals.

Base - the planter.

White + Wisteria - mix 1:1 equal parts white and wisteria

Sideload/float the tops of the two back petals.

Crocus

Line and dot the letters on the planter.

Dot - with the tip of your liner, dot the center of the pansies.

Pale Yellow

Dot, less than the crocus, but enough to give the center of the pansies a highlight.

Wineberry

Dot, just a little bit, the very center of the pansy centers making sure you can see the yellow dots on the sides.

Chrome Green Lt.

Base the dowel stems.


Finish:

Varnish, let dry, glue on moss and greenery near base of stems.

WOOD CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS

Pansies - cut out of 1/2" pine, cut 3

Planter

top: 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1 3/4" pine
bottom: 1" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/2" pine
Glue or staple top and bottom pieces together.

Stems

1/8" dowel cut to these lengths:
5 1/2", 4 1/2", 3"

Drill

Drill with an 1/8" or larger drill bit

The holes in the planter are drilled as follows (see pattern for dowel location):

A - slight angle so stem points a little left.
B - slight angle so stem points a little right.
C - drill straight down.

Stems

A - 4" dowel
B - 5 1/2" dowel
C - 3" dowel

Please feel free to mix the stems around for a different arrangement.
