Instructions
1. Cut four stockings out of 3/4" pine. Drill top where
marked on pattern with 1/4" drill bit.
2. Sand, seal, and sand again. Wipe with a tack cloth.
3. Maroon- Basecoat two stockings.
4. Woodland Night Green- Basecoat the other two stockings.
5. White- Stipple in toe and heel area as well as the top of the stocking where marked.
With thinned white paint or white permanent marker, paint snowflakes and lettering onto
the stocking. With wooden end of brush, dip into white paint and dot the lettering and
snowflakes.
6. Spray with Krylon Matte Spray.
7. Load thinned white paint into an old toothbrush, hold stocking approximately 18 inches
away and run your thumb over the bristles of the paint brush directing it towards your
wood piece. This is called speckling. Speckle all four stockings this way. Wipe off any
mistakes with a Q-tip.
8. Spray once again with Krylon Matte Spray.
9. Tear four 1 1/2" x 14" long strips of gingham fabric. Tie into four bows.
(Tearing the fabric instead of cutting it gives a more old fashioned look.) Trim bow end
as necessary.
10. Hot glue bows into place. Then hot glue the bell just below the knot of the bow.
ASSEMBLY:
6. Cut two lengths of jute each 40" long.
2. For first piece of jute:
a. hot glue one end into the hole of the "THE" stocking.
b. hot glue the other end of the same piece of jute into the "HUNG" stocking.
3. For the second piece of jute:
a. hot glue one end into the hole of the "STOCKINGS" stocking.
b. hot glue the other end of the same piece of jute into the "WERE" stocking.
4. Lay the stockings onto a flat surface in the proper order vertically. Space them out so
that the stockings are approximately 1" from each other.
5. Draw all the ends of the jute up behind the stockings to the very top above the
"THE" stocking. Make sure all of the slack is out of the jute or once you hang
the stockings, they wont be evenly spaced. There should now be four pieces of jute forming
two loops above the "THE" stocking,
6. Cut 6" length of jute. Grasp the loops of the jute with one hand and tie a knot
with the extra piece of jute about 1-2" above the "THE" stocking, Trim ends
as necessary.
