Painting Level: Beginner
Supplies Needed
Delta Ceramcoat
Acrylic Paint:
Black
Burgundy Rose
Trail Tan
Antique White
Liquid Stain - Fruitwood
Plaid Folk Art Acrylic Colors
Nutmeg
Accent Country Colors
Fingerberry Red
Pine Needle Green
Supplies:
1/4" plywood
22 gauge wire
4" doily, tea dyed
1 button
homespun scraps of fabric
lace scraps
wood glue
checker stencil 1"
Cutting Instructions:
Cut all pieces from 1/4" plywood. Drill holes as
illustrated. Sand all edges smooth, wipe dust with cloth.
Instructions
Basecoat:
Basecoat entire heart antique white.
Base gingerbread nutmeg. Let dry. Sand all
edges to expose wood, Stain everything.
Painting Details:
Heart - Edge heart with pine needle green about 1"
wide. Stencil bottom 1/3 of heart with pine needle green. Let dry.
Stripe green edge with trail tan stripes. Outline green edge with black
zigzags. Letter heart "HOMESPUN AT HEART" in black with black
dots at the end of each letter. Let dry. Apply stain around entire green edge
to darken.
Gingerbread - Outline gingerbread with black zigzags.
Cheeks are burgundy rose with trail tan stripes and dots. Outline cheeks in
black. Eyes are two black dots. Mouth is a single stroke of burgundy rose.
icing is trail tan. Buttons are 3 black dots. Heart is fingerberry red
outlined in black with a trail tan dot. Let dry. Stain edges of gingerbread to
darken.
Assembly:
Cut doily halfway down the center, cut center out. Hot glue
doily to neck of gingerbread. Hot glue button to doily. Tie two homespun scraps together
to form bow. Hot glue bow to hear. Attach wire handle to heart, be sure to curl ends of
wire with piers. combine one piece of homespun with one piece of lace, tie to each side of
handle as shown. Wood glue gingerbread to heart. Let dry.
