Look what you can do with only 3 colors! Here is a very versatile little pattern. Make him into a pin or gift tag. Paint him on watercolor paper or wood. Give him to someone special on their birthday.

Prep for Watercolor Paper: Trace and transfer pattern
onto watercolor paper. Outline tracing with pen. Lightly mist several times
(making sure that surface is dried between coats) with Krylon 1311. Prep for Wood: Sand, seal and sand wooden surface. Basecoat with White Wash. Let dry. Trace and transfer pattern onto wood. Outline tracing with pen. Lightly mist several times (making sure that surface is dried between coats) with Krylon 1311 Painting: Wash entire bear with very thin True Ochre. If it is too light, let the first coat dry completely, and then rewash with a second coat. Do as many coats as needed for desired color. Wash balloon with very thin Royal Fushia. If it is too light, let the first coat dry completely, and then rewash with a second coat. Do as many coats as needed for desired color. With a sideload/float technique, float the shadows on the bear with True Ochre. Let dry, deepen the shades (if needed) with another float of True Ochre. With a sideload/float technique, float the shadow around the balloon with Royal Fushia. Let dry, deepen the shade (if needed) with another float of Royal Fushia. Lightly wash in the ears of the bear with Royal Fushia. Lightly stipple in the cheek of the bear with Royal Fushia. Lightly stipple the highlight on the balloon with White Wash. Make a small highlight line on balloon with White Wash and your liner brush. Let dry. Re-line with pen any lines that were washed over with paint. Let dry. Lightly mist again with Krylon 1311. For wood : Apply Satin Varnish. Glue on pin back or trim edges with scrapbook scissors and use as a gift tag. |
